Upgrade ... w/ Noise Cancelling ? [Mar. 30th, 2008|05:03 pm]

My first headset finally gave way and I'm ready to throw more money at a nicer one ... and am considering noise canceling.  Anyone frequent public access cafe's and have one to recommend?  I had an Aiwa HP-X223 and am looking for something with even better frequency response on the high end (>25kHz).

Hey there, I don't know much about headphones or where to find them so I thought I might ask about what I want here. Hopefully someone can help me. :)

I've been looking for a new pair of headphones. I want them to be huge (DJ-styled is what they call them right?). I'd also really like to find a pair with color or an interesting graphic or design to it.
The only ones I can find so far are at Skullcandy (Pair I'm most interested in: http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/hesh-p-5.html) and I might just end up buying them, but I wanted to know if there were other options out there for me.

Thanks.

Headphone hunting.. [Dec. 27th, 2006|01:55 am]

Hi.

I'm looking to replace my broken headphones with the Koss Pro3AA Stereophone model. (http://www.koss.com/koss/kossweb.nsf/p?OpenForm&pc^fs^PRO3AA)
I've browsed through previous posts and it seems like you know your headphones!

So, is this a good buy?

I make electronic music and really need to start mixing. I'm also a music fiend so I need something better than a pair of earbuds to listen to outside the house.

My previous pair were a KOSS Ur/29 and I was pretty disappointed with them.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

This is a post to all the audiophiles in this community! [Nov. 1st, 2006|09:05 pm]

Before we continue, the requirements for someone to be an audiophile are these:

1. 128kbps MP3s are a joke to you
2. you can tell the difference between AAC and MP3
3. you can tell the difference between a 320kbps AAC file, an AIFF

If this is you, please keep reading.

I am in the market for some high fidelity headphones. I am a college student on a budget. I really don't want to spend more than $150 on them. Originally I was going to buy the Bose Triport headphones, but I've heard mixed reviews on them (plus I think they're retarded looking). Does anyone know of any moderately priced studio headphones, specifically for 2-channel stereo music? i've heard a lot of studio headphones aren't very loud due to the iPod's low amplifier, and the usual 40mm drives. I need them to sound great, and to play loud.

Thank you SO much in advance!

Well, at last I have some time and experience to write a little essay about this PCI soundcard as I've been asked earlier.

G'day, mates, nice to find you.

While trying not to start another holywar 'bout headphones itself, I'm interested in your choices of audio source. I personally spend most of my time at work, so relatively old Terratec Aureon 5.1 PCI is all I have for now. At least it can power my Grado SR-125 well enough for a workplace.

But for some time now I suspect these cans needs a better couple - I hear background noise passed through tracks' silent parts, and worse. Looking for card with better caps I have found cheap enough M-Audio Revolution 5.1 (I do not see any noticable advantages in 7.1 version, especially for headphone use :)). Looks pretty cool - separate headphone jack and all that.

So what do you use, and what you have to say 'bout this one?

Anyone trying to find some amazing headphones, for not too much money? Then you should think about on of these headphones. Both are very comfortable to wear for a long time, talking about up to 9 hours. The sound is really amazing. You have very clear heights, and a very controlled and deep bass. To be honest, there is nothing were you can say, that it sounds better than another part of the music, it just sounds perfect. They provide a really good image where the instruments and the voice comes from. When I close my eyes I can see the orchestra or group standing in front of me. Just try them, it is really worth it. Any questions, just ask...
